Hi We've a bought a license to StarBurn SDK PROFESSIONAL EDITION Version 12.0. I'm not being able to write data to RW CD or DVD formatted by Windows 7 (UDF format). Our software needs to be able to write data to any blank disc provided by the users for backup purposes. Steps to reproduce the problem (I'm using the SDK sample for this): 1. Format a CD/DVD using Windows Explorer by right clicking and select Format or by double clicking the drive icon when there is a blank disc in it. 2. Run the DataBurner sample wizard. 3. Select the default transport and then click next to go to the Devices page 4. Click Next in the Devices page. It will prompt you to erase the disk. Select No to continue. 5. An error message will popup that the disc format is not recognizable. StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_GetDiscFreeSpace does not fail but returns 0 available space on an empty formatted disc. StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_DiscAtOnceRawPWFromTree fails and ejects the disc immediately. Windows explorer recognizes the disc format as UDF and is able to write data to it. Could you please point me in the right direction? |

Windows does Packet-At-Once formatting (actually not Windows but ancient Roxio burner Windows has built-in). We don't do PAO with UDF at all (even if we did there's no guaranteed compatibility between apps for this mode). So make StarBurn accept -RW media Windows used before (formatted) you need to run StarBurn's *FULL* erase sequence on such a disc. For -R media (formatted of course) unfortunately you'll have to use another media... |
