Hi again - I just posted regarding Starburns' failure to detect disc when a disc is in the drive. More info - it will detect the presence of a CD but not a DVD - yes, both drives I tried are DVD burners. Also - I am trying to burn a DVD in 'data' mode.
Thanx

Hello,

We need StarBurn log file to analyse situation.

If you can then please do next steps :

1)Open StarBurn log folder:
"[Drive]:\Program Files\Rocket Division Software\StarBurn\Wizards\Logs"

2)Delete all log files in this folder

3)Insert your DVD disc.

4)Run StarBurn application and click Refresh button on drives panel.

5)Send to me a new generated files form StarBurn log folder:
"[Drive]:\Program Files\Rocket Division Software\StarBurn\Wizards\Logs"

I found the problem. As a 'newbie' to the vicissitudes of DVD burning I discovered that there are different disc DVD formats and one needs to be certain that the DVD burner is compatible with the media you are using. I have 2 burners in my machine - one does not recognize DVD+R discs and the other does. I am using DVD+R discs. The reason that Starburn did not 'see' the presence of a disk in the one drive is that the drive was not DVD+R compatible. The second drive is DVD+R compatible but there was something wrong with its' ability to read/write DVD dics - it works fine with CD discs which threw me a curve. I swapped out the second drive with another and the problem went away - Starburn is working just fine.

Device has two laser heads. One for DVDs and other for CDs. So if it works with CDs it does not mean DVD head is also OK :)

Nice to know everything is fine, thank you for update!
